Our team of installers have recently completed another garage door installation for a homeowner in Earsham. The project saw us replace the customer’s existing garage door with a modern Warm Protection Roller Door.
We handled this installation from start to finish. The existing door and frame were carefully removed and all of the materials were responsibly disposed of. With the opening prepared, we were able to begin the process of installing the new door.
Why Was a Compact Roller Door the Right Choice?
Roller garage doors, such as the one installed at this property, are an excellent choice if you are looking to make better use of the space you have available both inside and in front of your garage.
Unlike a traditional up and over garage door, which swings outwards or travels back along tracks beneath the ceiling, a roller garage door opens vertically. The entire curtain rolls neatly into a box positioned above the opening, which allows the homeowner to park closer to the garage without causing any obstructions.
The Warm Protection Compact Roller Door has delivered a particularly neat solution for this property. We paired the black door with a matching frame, along with brushed metal guide rails that were fitted behind the piers. These elements allow us to maintain the width of the garage opening while giving the finished installation a tidy and unobtrusive appearance.
Built for Insulation and Long-Term Performance
The door is made up of strong 52mm aluminium slats, each filled with hard foam. This gives it additional strength, while helping to reduce draughts and heat loss through the garage opening.
A heavy-duty metal barrel supports the curtain as it rolls. This helps to prevent sagging and will ensure reliable operation for many years to come. The door is powered by a market-leading Somfy tubular motor, which provides smooth and convenient automatic opening.
Included in the installation were two coded Somfy handsets and an internal wall-mounted control unit. A courtesy light also activates whenever the door operates to improve visibility when entering or leaving the garage after dark.
There is also a manual internal override, meaning the door can still be operated from inside the garage during a power cut.
Security and Safety Built In
The new door provides several important safety and security features. Automatic locking helps secure the curtain when the door is closed, while a built-in Somfy alarm provides an additional deterrent against attempted forced entry.
A sensitive safety edge runs along the bottom of the curtain. Should the door detect someone lying on the floor while closing, it will stop and reverse to reduce the risk of damage or injury.
The finished installation has transformed the appearance and everyday usability of the garage. The homeowner now benefits from smooth automatic operation, improved security and insulation, and a modern finish backed by a five-year warranty.
