New GaraCompact: A Roller Garage Door for Tighter Spaces

We’ve recently added another option to the range of garage doors we can offer homeowners across Norwich and Norfolk - the new Garador GaraCompact Roller Garage Door.

What makes this one particularly interesting is the amount of space it needs above the garage opening.

We regularly visit homes where somebody likes the idea of a roller garage door, but the garage itself doesn’t have much headroom. That can be particularly common with smaller garages, flat-roof garages and older properties.

The GaraCompact has been designed with exactly those situations in mind.

Its compact housing requires just 205mm of headroom, potentially allowing us to fit an automatic roller door where a standard roller door wouldn’t be suitable.

Could a Roller Door Work in Your Garage?

That is really the question we’d want to answer.

Every garage is slightly different. The width and height of the opening matter, but so does the space above it, the position of the brickwork and whether the door is best fitted behind or between the opening.

The GaraCompact gives us another option when we’re working with limited space because its roller box is considerably more compact than many traditional systems.

If you’ve previously assumed that you don’t have enough room for an electric roller garage door, it’s therefore worth having us take another look.

We can measure everything properly during a free home survey and tell you whether the GaraCompact is suitable or whether another type of garage door would make more sense.

More Space on Your Driveway

If the GaraCompact does suit your property, you get all the usual practical advantages of a roller garage door.

The door opens vertically rather than swinging out onto your driveway.

That means you can park much closer to the garage entrance, which can be particularly useful if you’ve got a short drive or regularly have more than one vehicle outside the house.

Inside the garage, the curtain simply rolls into the box above the opening rather than travelling back across the ceiling.

It’s a simple design, but it can make a surprisingly big difference to how you use the available space.

Easy Automatic Operation

The GaraCompact is electrically operated and supplied with a Garador remote handset, so you can open and close the garage at the touch of a button.

There is also an internal control panel with an integrated LED courtesy light.

For most customers, that convenience is one of the main attractions of moving to an automatic garage door. You can pull onto the drive, open the door and park without having to get out of the car first.

Once you’ve had an automatic door, it’s usually something you wouldn’t want to give up.

Safety and Security Included

Garador has also built the everyday safety features you’d expect into the GaraCompact.

If the door encounters an obstruction while closing, its safety system detects it and automatically reverses the door.

When closed, a mechanical security stop helps restrict the curtain from being lifted upwards. The door curtain is also protected inside a fully enclosed box, helping to keep dirt and debris away from the curtain.

An internal emergency release is supplied too, with an external release available for garages where there is no other entrance.

A Choice of Five Colours

The GaraCompact has a simple ribbed design that should work well with both traditional and modern properties.

It’s currently available in:

  • Anthracite Grey
  • Jet Black
  • Traffic White
  • Sepia Brown
  • Agate Grey

The box and guide rails can also be supplied to match the curtain, giving the finished door a neat, coordinated appearance.

Want to Know If It Will Fit Your Garage?

This is where we’d rather come and have a look than try to give you an answer over the phone.

The big advantage of the new GaraCompact is that it gives us another solution when headroom is limited, but whether it’s the best door for your garage depends entirely on the opening and the space available around it.

We’ll happily come out, measure everything properly and talk you through the options.

There’s no pressure to buy and we won’t automatically recommend the GaraCompact just because it’s new. If another type of garage door would work better for your property or your budget, we’ll tell you.

Book a free home survey and we’ll take a look at your garage, explain what will work and help you choose the right door for your home.
