Replacing Two Garador Windsor Canopy Doors Near Stowmarket After Structural Damage

There is no getting away from the fact that accidents do happen. When they do, things can escalate quite quickly - especially when brickwork and garage doors are involved.

Unfortunately, in the case of the project, the customer had an accident when they reversed their vehicle into the central pier between the two openings, resulting in damage to the doors and the brickwork supporting them.

Once it had been established that no one was hurt, attention turned to making the structure safe and assessing any damage to the doors.

Making the Structure Safe First

Damage to the central pier meant it wasn’t something that could simply be worked around. That brickwork plays a critical role in the stability of the garage by supporting the load above each opening.

For that reason a qualified local builder was appointed to:

  • Remove the damaged brickwork
  • Rebuild the central pier
  • Ensure the whole building was structurally sound and properly aligned

Only once that work had been completed and the builders were confident that the openings were square and secure did we return to site.

Supply and Fitting a New Matching Pair

With the brickwork having been restored, we supplied and fitted a replacement matching pair of Garador Windsor garage doors.

Because the original installation had been disturbed, it was important to review the measurements and alignment of the doors. Even a slight movement in brickwork can affect how the canopy door sits and operates.

Upon returning to the site we:

  • Re-checked all structural measurements
  • Ensured that both openings were true and level
  • Installed the new garage doors
  • Carefully aligned, balanced and tensioned the mechanisms
  • Tested operation repeatedly to ensure smooth and consistent movement

We always take our time to ensure that every canopy door is properly balanced. If they are even slightly out, a customer will be able to feel it in the opening action.

Restoring Appearance and Function

The completed installation looks exactly as intended - two clean, symmetrical doors sitting neatly within the rebuilt brickwork.

But most importantly, the installation is:

  • Safe
  • Structurally sound
  • Smooth to operate
  • Properly aligned
  • Built to last

Looking at it from the driveway, you would never know that there had been an accident. For the homeowner, that’s the outcome that really matters - everything back to normal visually and practically.

Why This Type of Job Matters

This type of job isn’t about “selling a new door”. They are about:

  • Assessing whether the existing installation is safe
  • Working in partnership with other trusted local trades
  • Recognising and prioritising structural repairs
  • Installing only once conditions allow
