Spring is a Good Time to Upgrade your Garage Door

Garage door in rural property

Spring is famously the season for cleaning. While you are having a good pull out, hoover under and dust behind, you may notice that it is high time that certain items were upgraded. Some things you can get away with ignoring, but if you’ve got an old garage door that is showing signs of wear and tear – it could be dangerous to leave it. Here are some clues your door might need upgrading.

  • Strange Noises: If your garage door is making creaking, groaning or hissing noises when it is in operation, it shouldn’t be. Spray a bid of WD40 into the workings to see if that helps, but if it doesn’t – have a professional take a look.
  • Failure to Open Fully: You shouldn’t be walking under a garage door that hasn’t opened fully – there is a chance that it might fall on your head.
  • Failure to Close Fully: Ignoring a door that won’t close properly is a security risk. A new door will protect the belongings that you store in your garage.
  • Jerky Movement: This will often be indicative of a fault in your automation system. Please don’t fiddle with this. Get someone who knows what they are doing to take a look. We have seen all types of automation systems and know what we are tampering with.
  • Dents and Scratches: Sometimes a door will still work even though just by looking at it you can see that it has had a hard life. A new garage door will look smart, act as a deterrent to would-be burglars and add value to your home.

If you are in the market for a new garage door, come down to the Sweet Briar industrial estate and take a look around our showroom. We have fully functional examples of automated doors on display and all the relevant brochures and information that you may wish to browse through.
