1. Insulate your Walls.
The main reason that a garage is hot in the summer and cold in the winter is that they are often uninsulated. The heat from the sun outside will quickly warm uninsulated walls, and in turn your garage. Insulation will help keep the heat out in the summer, and keep the cold out in the winter. It can also help with soundproofing your garage – solving a few problems if you’re in a garage band.
2. Insulate your Doors.

3. Consider Air Conditioning.
It is expensive, but if you are spending a lot of time in your garage it might be worth installing an air conditioning unit. However, you will need to make sure your garage is well-insulated first, otherwise the cold air will quickly escape.

Cheaper than air-con, a large electric fan can help cool things down. As garages normally have small windows, a fan can be a good way of circulating the air in your garage.
5. Paint Your Garage Door.
Lighter colours reflect heat, darker colours absorb it. If you have a dark coloured garage door, consider painting it a lighter colour – you can always paint it again in the autumn.
