How Long Does It Take to Install a Garage Door?

An example of a Roller garage door.

On average, it takes our experienced team between 4 and 6 hours to remove your old garage door and its frame, install your new frame, connect and tension the door, and tidy up. Depending on the complexity of the job we might be a little bit quicker or slower, but it should never take us more than a working day. We’ve been in the industry for over 20 years and in this time, we have installed countless doors. Our team are highly experienced in both fitting and repairing garage doors.

Up & Over Garage Doors

Our installation team usually allows themselves half a day to install one of these style doors and expect to complete the task in around four hours. As the name suggests, these doors swing up and over, so it is important that these doors are properly balanced in all positions. You can view the range of styles of Up & Over garage doors that we supply and install on our website.

Sectional Garage Doors

Sectional doors are probably the most complex to install out of all of our doors. This is mainly down to their design. We have to ensure that all of the sections sync correctly with the operating mechanism. The average installation time for these styles of these doors is around six hours. Roller Garage Door

The roller garage door usually takes our experienced team around four hours to install completely. However, our record sits at an impressive time of only two and a half hours. The roller door range comes with an array of different design options. The range of roller doors that we supply and install is manufactured by Warm Protection garage doors.

Will You Remove Our Existing Garage Door?

We are often asked by our customers if we remove their existing door as part of the service. The short answer to this is: always. Removing the existing door and all its components is included under our installation. Please don’t attempt to remove your old door yourself as this is skilled and dangerous work. The door has to be released from its tension and the cables cut. Once our installation team arrives on site we will remove the original door, install the new door and its frame and leave you with a clean site. We include a full plastic trim around the door that will cover any holes or marks from a previous less professional door installation.
