How to make the most of your narrow garage door opening

In a letter published in the Saturday 20th July edition of The Telegraphs motoring section, a reader wrote in requesting suggestions for narrow cars that would fit more comfortably in their garage than their existing Saab 9-3. If like this reader you find driving into your garage a tight squeeze, we can save you from the hassle of buying a smaller car by making the most of your narrow garage door opening. Many people will have up and over garage doors fitted within a 7ft opening. Unfortunately the 3inch sub frame that is fitted around 3 sides of these doors actually decreases the drive through width of your door to just 6ft 6inchs. Rather than purchasing a new car there are several cheaper alternatives available. Our advice would be to consider replacing your up and over door with either a roller or sectional garage door. Fitted behind the opening rather than between it, there is no need for the sub frame so you can increase the drive through space by 6 inches to the full 7ft. If you would like help and advice getting the most from your garage space do not hesitate to contact our friendly team on freephone 0500 333350, where we will be happy to offer all the assistance you require.
